The online course ‘Introduction to Digital Humanities and Artificial Intelligence for Schools’ is organized by AICA Emilia Romagna – Marche section and AIUCD, in collaboration with CLARIN-IT and CNR ILC.

The course offers an overview of the main digital technologies and methodologies applied to the humanities, focusing on their integration into secondary school teaching.

Thanks to the involvement of the AICA association, this course is accredited by the SOFIA ministerial platform for secondary school teachers. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance, and the certified training hours can be counted toward the compulsory professional development requirements. These hours are valid for inclusion in a teacher’s professional portfolio.

Furthermore, the course will be hosted on the H2IOSC Training Environment to allow future teachers to participate in the training course as well.

Structured in five modules, the course will cover the fundamentals of Digital Humanities, the use of digital libraries and archives, the potential of Digital and Public History, the application of generative Artificial Intelligence in education, and digital tools for textual analysis. Each module will be led by field experts, offering both theoretical insights and practical applications for teaching.

The course aims to provide teachers with concrete tools to innovate humanities education and encourage a critical reflection on the impacts of digital technologies in research and teaching. At the end of the course, participants will be able to take the ICDL Artificial Intelligence exam free of charge, with the option for certification available for a fee.

The online course is free of charge, but participants must register.

All registered participants will receive links to the events and a certificate of participation upon completion of the course, according to applicable regulations.
