H2IOSC at the “Sostenibilità PNRR@CNR” Workshop | February 10, 2025

Yesterday, H2IOSC participated in the “Sostenibilità PNRR@CNR” workshop, organized by CNR at its Research Area of Pisa, bringing together the scientific community engaged in PNRR projects. It was a valuable opportunity to discuss sustainability strategies and explore potential synergies between various initiatives.

During the morning session, Costanza Miliani, director of CNR ISPC and scientific coordinator of E-RIHS.it – the leading research infrastructure of the H2IOSC RIs Cluster – presented the session Unlocking the Potential of Digital Transformation for Humanities and Heritage Science, emphasizing the crucial role of digital transformation in cultural heritage research.

Cultural heritage is a fundamental pillar of contemporary society, shaping identity, social progress, and economic development. The digital transformation of cultural heritage is revolutionizing how it is studied, preserved, and enhanced, requiring a transdisciplinary research approach.

To address this challenge, CNR has launched an initiative led by DSU in collaboration with DIITET, DSFTM, DSSTTA, and DSCTM institutes. This initiative integrates two key PNRR projects dedicated to heritage science, CHANGES, and H2IOSC. The goal is to maximize the impact of digital transformation in basic and applied research through translational approaches for the sustainable conservation and enhancement of tangible and intangible heritage.

This synergy strengthens the impact of digital transformation on both basic and applied research, fostering sustainable conservation and enhancement of tangible and intangible heritage. This synergy may also attract additional PNRR initiatives, such as ITSERR – an infrastructure for the digital study of religions – and SAMOTHRACE – a project supporting Sicilian cultural and creative enterprises.
